North American Mustang Mk.IV / P-51K Mustang – 1:48 Scale Model
The North American P-51 Mustang is one of the most iconic American fighters of World War II. Originally designed to meet an RAF specification, the Mustang became a masterpiece once fitted with the Rolls Royce Merlin engine. The P-51D model’s long range and excellent firepower made it a superb escort fighter, able to protect bombers all the way to Berlin and back.
The Mustang is recorded as the top-scoring Allied fighter of the war, with 4,950 enemy aircraft destroyed. In 1948, the designation changed to F-51D, and the aircraft continued in USAF and RAAF service as a ground attack plane during the Korean War.
